Leather Time

 The first attempts to measure time date back to ancient times. Sun, shadows, and later water or sand were used to determine the passage of time. However, true watches first appeared in the 13th century in Europe. These were mechanical tower clocks with distinctive dials and hands.

In the following centuries, watches underwent many transformations. In the 16th century, the first pocket watches appeared, which were small and easy to carry. In the 17th century, the spiral spring mechanism was invented, allowing for longer tension maintenance in pocket watches. In the 18th century, watchmaking reached its golden age, and watches became not only precise timekeeping devices but also true works of art, adorned with gold, silver, and gemstones.

 In the 19th century, with the widespread adoption of wristwatches, a new era in the history of watchmaking began. Watches became more accessible to the masses, and technological innovations, such as the introduction of automatic winding mechanisms, made watches more practical and convenient to use.
